A Tribute to Mr. George Cummings (Medical Assisting Faculty)

The Raleigh Campus – students, faculty and staff – would like to thank Medical Assisting instructor extraordinaire, George Cummings, for his 12½ years of service at ECPI University.

Students have been singing his praises:

“Really enjoyed his class. He made sure we understood what he was teaching us and how to do it properly.”

“Was the best instructor. He is a very patient person.”

“He helped me after class one day with phlebotomy and when I got the concept he was as excited as I was. One in a million.”

“Thanks Mr. Cummings for encouraging me and staying late for those who needed your help.”

“Mr. Cummings taught me how to do something I never thought I would/could do and that’s draw blood. I so overthought it, but he reassured me that I could do it and I did. Now it’s second nature to me.”

“Thank you Mr. Cummings for never giving up on us and for your great way of making us feel we could accomplish it all.”

From faculty and staff who are grateful to have worked with him:

“George was wonderful to work with. I just loved listening to his lectures through a shared wall to the library office.  Passion and enthusiasm about the subject was always conveyed.”

“George was passionate about teaching. He would work with students long into the afternoon to make sure they had extra time and resources to practice diagnostic skills. He offered his own body many times to help the student practice under his guidance.”

“George was always the first person to volunteer to substitute for faculty having a difficult situation or to take the new member of the faculty under his wing to offer advice and resources for success.  I’ve never known a more giving coworker.”

“During his tenure, George Cummings conducted his classes with professionalism and expected the same from his students.  Mr. Cummings served as the Faculty Advisor for the Medical Assisting Club and represented our campus in the Raleigh community promoting the academic program, health, and well-being. His unwavering enthusiasm could be heard radiating through the hallways of the campus.  George’s willingness and dedication to students was evident every day contributing to his Medical Assisting students’ success.”

Thank you so much, Mr. Cummings, for everything you have done for ECPI!
